Bedford Travel Grant

Applications for the Bedford Travel Grants are available to Part 1A and 1B Undergraduate members of the Cambridge University Geographical Society (CUGS).

The purpose of the grants are to assist the funding of expeditions or travel which broadly compliment and promote the study of Geography, but are not necessarily explicitly tied to academic work.  There are no set criteria for the allocation of grants; each application will be judged on its own merits. The grants will be allocated by the Treasurer of the Society, subject to confirmation by the Senior Treasurer.

Research Europe Grant

In addition to the Bedford Travel Grant, CUGS is proud to have a second travel grant, which will be open to students in first and second year. CUGS is thankful to the generosity of Research Europe, a people-focussed information and services firm, founded by former CUGS President, Stephen Buchanan (1995).

This sizable grant is available for travel anywhere around the world, not just Europe. Applications need not necessarily be for Tripos-related travel. It is encouraged that applicants demonstrate how their travel will be bold, innovative or thought-provoking, and something which would not have been possible without a grant.

Who are Research Europe?

Research Europe is an information and services firm focussed on businesses’ most valuable resource: People.

We are London-based but work across the globe. We employ a small, collaborative and cosmopolitan team. The managing director is a former Cambridge geographer and indeed CUGS president.

We are proud supporters of CUGS. We encourage Geographers to be bold and innovative in their thinking and in their travels. Take a look at the Research Europe website here!
